Are there any age restrictions?

For one-day trips, there are no age restrictions, but parents should be aware that some excursions might be somewhat inappropriate for small children. However, treks of several days are aimed at travellers aged 18 and above, whereas persons aged 16 to 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Why should I travel with Trek Croatia?

Our young and enthusiastic team is dedicated to presenting the local natural beauty, people, customs, or simply our way of life, to tourists who usually do not get a chance to see and experience the very best this region has to offer. Our Tour Leaders are local guys dedicated to showing you the amazing countryside and the best sights of our region. Their colourful personalities (a photographer of the Velebit Mountain and a travel writer, a musician and an all-around entertainer) will definitely spice up the experience of the scenery surrounding you.

What's included in the price of the Trek Croatia?

The price includes transportation by a van for 8 + 1 and a boat to locations defined in individual tours, all accommodations on the tours (mountain huts, private accommodations, camping sites, etc.), all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) defined in individual tours, sojourn tax, national part entry fees and last but not the least, services of our Trek Leaders whose local background and love of the countryside will spice up the experience of the scenery surrounding you. 

Are flights included in the price?

At the moment, no.

Is it cheaper to travel independently?

It is always cheaper to travel independently, but our agency can save you the trouble and time needed for organizing the entire itinerary we offer by yourself. Likewise, you would not get the experience of travelling to amazing places with like-minded people you meet along the way and in your trek group.

I am travelling on my own. Will I be the only one?

Most likely no, our clients mostly travel alone or in couples, but we can never guarantee the structure of the group. When you travel with Trek Croatia as a single traveller you won't pay a single supplement. The majority of our Trekkers are travelling alone, and you'll share a tent with your colleague traveller of the same sex or a Private lodging with your companions.

Do couples travel with Trek Croatia?

Of course they do.

What if I haven't camped before?

Then this would be a perfect opportunity for you to try and experience this unique adventure. Our Tour Leaders will be there to guide you and help you learn about the camping way of life. For more information on required equipment and preparations, go to GET READY FOR YOUR ADVENTURE.

What facilities are at the campsite?

All campsites have basic facilities such as showers, toilets, camping plots, but any additional facilities are stated in individual descriptions of the campsites included in our offer.

Will there be showers and toilets at the campsites?

Yes, there will.

How fit should I be?

Some of the treks are a bit straining and certain good physical abilities are welcome, but we have tailored our treks for all our trekkers by offering lighter versions to some of the more difficult activities.

What is a guaranteed departure?

If the minimum number of registered travellers (6) is reached at least 45 days before the tour departure, then the departure becomes guaranteed for all who registered. In case the tour does not reach the minimum number 45 days before the tour departure, we will give you full refund. For custom-made treks, the tour is guaranteed when the full price is paid.

When does a tour become guaranteed?

The minimum number is 6.

How do I book my tour?

For the moment, the tours are booked via our published contacts (e-mail and telephone), but soon we will launch a booking form where all requests will be processed online.

When should I book my tour?

Our recommendation is to book the tour at least 45 days before the tour departure.

Do I need to pay everything upfront?

Yes, when booking a tour, you need to pay the deposit, and the remaining amount at least 45 days before the tour departure. Details about payment terms can be found in our General terms and conditions, as well as is in detailed information of each individual tour.

When do the trips begin and end?

All starts and ends are defined for each individual tour in their detailed descriptions. Usually the tours start in the morning hours, and end in late afternoon hours.

How do I reserve a hotel room the night before and after my tour?

You can either contact us to do the reservations for you, or you can contact a hotel directly. Keep in mind that the prices may vary, due to additional agency fee.

How and when do I receive my confirmation and documents?

30 days before the tour departure you will get the final confirmation and documents confirming the booked tour via e-mail.

Can I find out who else will be on my tour?

Our privacy policy does not allow us share personal information of our trekkers to third parties not defined in our General terms and conditions.

How much luggage can I bring?

You must bring your own sleeping bag for all camping tours! One medium sized bag, suitcase, soft holdall or rucksack (20kg maximum) per person, plus a sleeping bag. A small daypack and camera may also be carried in our vehicle.

Which is best to take, a rucksack, soft suitcase or smart suitcase?

Our experience is that rucksacks are more suitable for this type of travelling.

Where can I charge things during my tour?

During the tour you will visit places where there is power needed for charging various things. Our agency operators can give you more detailed information regarding the places with electricity, depending on the tour you select.

Will there be Wi-Fi available?

Depending where the tour takes you.Please, keep in mind that some places in our tours are situated in wild nature where Wi-Fi is not available. Our agency operators can give you more detailed information, depending on the tour you select.

Will my mobile phone work whilst I am away?

Yes it will work in majority of places, but please keep in mind that there are some places in wild nature where signals are very weak and you might experience some difficulties. Our agency operators can give you more detailed information, depending on the tour you select.

Do I need a visa?

Do I need travel insurance?

Before you join your tour you MUST be covered by insurance that includes adequate coverage for baggage, medical expenses, any adventurous activities you plan to take part in, and the cost of repatriation should you become too ill to continue to travel. You will be asked to provide details of your insurance policy, including insurer, policy and phone number on the morning of your trip departure. If you join a Trek Croatia tour without adequate insurance you may not be allowed to continue with no right to a refund. For more information, go to TRAVEL INSURANCE.

Do I need a sleeping bag? What kind of sleeping bag do I need?

You need to bring your own sleeping bag for all our camping trips. We recommend a ‘three season’ bag during the summer months and a ‘four season’ bag the rest of the year, as some nights can be cool to cold, especially in mountainous areas. We supply a pad to sleep on, but if you prefer added comfort, you are encouraged to bring your own self-inflating sleeping pad and pillow.

Do I really need walking boots or will trainers be ok?

Keep in mind that dress tends to be informal. Take a practical selection of clothes for both hot and cool climates to suit the season. You may encounter a wide variety of temperatures en route due to altitude and unforeseen weather conditions, so be prepared. More information you can find under Get ready for your adventure.

How much money do I need to bring on tour?

For all tours we recommend you take at least €15 euros per day for drinks, snacks, tips and other incidentals. You should also budget for the optional activities that you would like to participate in, guideline prices for the most popular optional activities are listed on the tour pages on our website. We suggest you bring €150 with you in cash. Please bear in mind that in some off the beaten track destinations ATM’s and cash machines may be limited. Also, since Croatian kuna is the official currency, please bear in mind that is the remote destinations there are no exchange offices, so please exchange all your currencies to Kuna (HRK) beforehand. Currently, the foreign exchange rate is around € 1 euro =  HRK 7.6.

How do I access money on tour?

We suggest you bring €150 with you in cash. Please bear in mind that in some off the beaten track destinations ATM’s and cash machines may be limited.

Do I need to tip?

Yes, it is a custom to do so.

Do we need to pre-book optional activities?

For organizational purposes, we highly recommend pre-booking of optional activities, but in some cases optional activities may be organized on spot. Our agency operators can give you more detailed information, depending on the tour you select.

What is the joining point of the tour?

In majority of cases the joining point of our tours is Sv. Juraj. Our agency operators can give you more detailed information, depending on the tour you select.
